There are plenty of watch brands in the world other than Rolex. Many of these brands offer higher quality products than Rolex and some offer less. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, fine watches or different watch brands may impress different crowds with higher standards.
What Kinds Of Brands Are There?
There are usually four main categories of watches:
- High-end luxury
- Luxury
- Psuedo-luxury
These categories usually cover all types of budgets, basic luxury watches being the most inexpensive while high-end luxury brands tend to be up into the millions for their product.
High-end Luxury Watches
For high-end luxury, these brands usually have a relationship with the crafter, or are the crafter themselves. These watch brands aren't for everyone and dealers specializing in specifics are usually involved in a personal relationship or process with the brand. The brand may have their own gem buyers that go from country to country, or may do this themselves for their brand. Their product is usually sold to an exclusive amount of people, almost like being in a really expensive club. Money is never usually an object with this kind of brand, as these people want the best of the best.
Luxury Brand of Watches
Luxury brands are expensive, but they can have mass-produced items and are usually the most well-known, brand wise. This category includes Rolex. Some of these brands may have a jeweler, but they usually don’t go out searching for gems as they most likely have someone else they buy their bulk product from. These luxurious and elegant pieces are great, but the cost matches the look! For a simple steel model, it can be as much as $1,000. While this is the closest you can get to high-end luxury watches, it is still pricey. But there are other tiers that have price ranges that are suitable for those who may not have thousands.
Pseudo-luxury Watches
Pseudo-luxury watches are a bit higher end of basic watches, but you don't have to make the monetary commitment to them. They can be as inexpensive as $500 for a steel model and $750 for a gold piece. These types of brands generally follow trends more than they are trendsetters. They aim for ones who want an inexpensive version of a high-end piece. They are not necessarily knock-offs, as they can be pricey as well. These watch brands usually use a very high amount of mass production, as they do not set trends as mentioned. They have a great finish and can look stunning for a great price.
Basic Luxury Watches
Last but not the least, there are basic luxury watches. If you’re not a watch enthusiast and want something aesthetically pleasing for a cheap price, then this may be your market. These are better than cheap watches you have in the store but you won't be waiting a year for personalized craftsmanship for these pieces. While they can use genuine materials, these prices are usually well under $1,000. If you’re looking to collect watches that may end up with a high value over time, these generally aren’t the watches you would go for. The watches in this bracket are generally mass-produced in high quantities and they go after trendy and popular looks.
The amount of watch knowledge you must know when buying your watch can be overwhelming. By spotting out great brands versus average, it can be much simpler when you have basic knowledge of these tier types.
